Myocarditis-Causes, Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention.

Myocarditis.
Myocarditis is a condition that causes inflammation of heart muscle(myocardium). It can affect the heart's ability to pump blood and lead to complication such as heart failure, arrhythmias or sudden cardiac death. Myocarditis can have various causes, but the most common is a viral infection. Other possible causes include bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infections, autoimmune diseases, allergic reaction to drugs, and exposure to chemical reaction or radiation.

Some of the symptoms of myocarditis are chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling of the legs or feet or irregular heartbeat and flue like such as fever, headache, or sore throat. However, some people with myocarditis may have no symptoms or only mild ones. Myocarditis can be diagnosed by physical examination , blood test, chest X-ray, electrocardiogram(ECG), echocardiogram, cardiac MRI, or endomyocardial biopsy.

The treatment for myocarditis depends on it's cause and severity of the condition. Some cases of myocarditis may resolve on their own without treatment. Others may require medication to treat the infection, reduce inflammation, or improve heart function. these medications may include antibiotics, antivirals, anti-inflammatory, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, or corticosteroids. In severe cases, patients may need procedures or surgeries such as cardiac catheterization, cardiac transplantation, vascular assist devices, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

Myocarditis can be prevented by avoiding exposure to infections and toxins that can trigger it. This may be include practicing good hygiene, getting vaccinated against certain diseases, avoiding alcohol and drug abuse, and seeking medical attention promptly for any signs of infection or heart problems.
