Sahara Group Founder Subrata Roy Story-A Journey of an Ambitious Youth-Establishment of Sahara India Parivar.

Today on 15th of November, 2023 Subrata Roy, the head and Chairperson of Sahara Group passed away at age of 75 Years in a Private hospital in Mumbai after a long treatment. He lost his last breath due to cardio-respiratory failure. Tomorrow his body will be taken to his Sahara city in Lucknow where his last ritual will be held.

        Subrata Roy was born on 10th June in 1948 in Araria in the district of Bihar. He completed his graduation in  mechanical engineering from technical institute of Gorakhpur. He started his career with a chit fund company, Sahara Finance in 1976. it was operated on daily fund collection from rural and marginal people. He emphasised on the small savings of the small capitalized business owner such as grocers, fish merchant, garments shopkeeper, hawker, street shopkeeper. In an interview he confessed his rigorous challenges to daily collection from huge contributor base. But he never discarded any of the tiny fund contributor. He reached every member riding a ten KM cycle riding. Thus he raised the Sahara Finance to Sahara India Parivar within 1978. It became one of the biggest financial organisation in India. Gradually he diversified Sahara Group in Capital investment, real estate, media and hospitality sector. Sahara group introduce an Hindi daily, Rastriya Sahara. He started a great real estate projects in Pune city called Ambe Valley City in 1990. This group introduce Sahara TV and entered to the global media world later this TV channel renamed as Sahara One. In 2000 this company bought Grosvenor hotel in London and Plaza hotel in New York city. Once his company was recognised as second largest employer in India succeeding Indian Railway. At a time Sahara Group employed 12 Lac of employment. 

Though his business success he was confronted with legal complication. In  2014 supreme court ordered his arrest warrant for failing to attend court as per litigation with SEBI. He was in Tihar jail  and finally got release in Parole. Instead of his legal litigation his business glamour was never fainted. He was awarded doctorate degree from East London university. He was awarded the prestigious London power brand, the hall of frame. According to India today he retained his position as most Powerful Indian.

            After a long stream of success he left his business emperor he left his last breath in Mumbai on 15th November in 2023. We always remember his struggle and success.
