On 26th January each of the year of independent India, Republic day is celebrated in memorandum of Indian Sovereignty. It commemorates the date which the constitution of India came into effect, replacing the Government of India act, 1935 as the governing document of India. It is celebrated on 26th of January every year as it marks the anniversary of the declaration of Poorna Swaraj (Complete Independence) by the National Congress in 1930.
Significance of Republic Day: This signifies as it lies in the fact that it represents the sovereignty and democratic values of the India people, who fought a long and hard struggle against colonial oppression and exploitation. The constitution of India, which is the supreme law of the land, embodies the principle of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, and guarantees the fundamental rights and duties to all citizen. It also enshrines the ideals of secularism, socialism, and federalism, which form the basis of the Indian Polity.
Mode of Celebration of the day: The celebration of the day involves various cultural and patriotic events across the country, such as National Flag hoisting ceremony, reciting national anthem, parades, cultural programs, awards and honours and speeches by dignitaries. The most prominent and spectacular event is the Republic day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi, where the president of India takes the salute from the military and paramilitary forces. The parade also showcases the cultural and regional diversity of India. The parade is followed by a fly-past by the Indian Air Force and a cultural extravaganza by various artists. The republic day celebration instills a sense of pride and patriotism in every Indian and reminds them their duties and responsibilities towards their country. Every Indians are proud to have such a great and diversified democracy in the word.
