Kolkata Doctor Rape & Murder Case Updates:
Since 9th August, 2024 the protest all over the globe is continuing in favour of the tragic death of a trainee post graduate doctor in R G Kar Medical college & Hospital Kolkata. All sensible peoples are expressing their solidarity to condemn such brutal crime against humanity. All are demanding speedy arrest & punish the criminal. Though the case is under CBI custody but the movement of the case study is not satisfactory. Recurrent agitation already are being organized by various organization and communities.

CBI is exercising the case but still not reach to any conclusion to address the crime. Peoples of State, West Bengal India are being intolerable to slow & passive approach of police and investigation. The protest marches are powering from all corners of society including the student forum. Govt. of WB raise petition at Calcutta High Court for prohibition order for Nabanna Abhijan Protest March. But division bench comprising of Justice Harish Tendon and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya deliver order for peaceful protest in line with Supreme Court's stance. They express a balance of right of protest and also advise administration the concern of public safety. On 27th August, 2024 UGC-NET examination is schedule. So police needs to take sufficient measure for convenience of examinee.
Police is controlling the protesters by throwing tear gas, water cannon and lathicharge. Some of the students are arrested and taken to local police station. School administration already issue show cause to three government aided school in Howrah for promoting their students to join in protest rally.
Background of R G Kar Medical Student's Rape & Murder Incidents.
A smart and widespread protest is going on in Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal, India concerning to murder case of Dr. Moumita Debnath, a Trainee post graduate doctor in R G Kar Medical & Hospital. On 9th of August, 2024 the dead body of the said doctor was found in the seminar hall of R G Kar Medical College. She was mutilated by gang rape and subsequent murder by strangled through suffocation. This was an emblem of wild autocracy.

Autopsy report revealed that she was gang raped before murdered. She was wounded deeply in her genital passage, lips, left leg, right hand ring finger, face and neck. According to the post mortem report she was pressurized in her throat and mouth. It caused the fracture of thyroid cartilage. She was strangled and murdered. The report further noted bleeding in her face, in her eyes and also in her private parts. It also stated that scratch marks on her face might be caused by the accused nail's scrapping. The entire report prominently suggests of perverted sexuality and genital torture. It lead her to suffocating death. The photographs and description of the eyewitness in the social media erupts the condemn to the government for failing arrest of accused instead of sufficient time. For instances on primary investigation Kolkata police arrested a civic volunteer posted on duty nearby police out post adjacent to R G Kar Hospital. He was described as womaniser and domestic abuser. State Police and Kolkata police had taken it as a normative case but common people take it a severe concern for women safety in the State of West Bengal though it is being ruled by Trinamool Congress with head of a women chief minister. Government passively looks in to the matter but people of the country expressed their solidarity with the victim for a fair and immediate justice. In response to the wide protest, Calcutta High Court on 13th August unsatisfied to the mode of investigation of the case and depicted as mishandling by Kolkata police. Later on considering the gravity, the case was transferred to central bureau of investigation (CBI). They flagged off the vandalization for demolition of evidences. In the mean time Dr. Sandip Ghosh, Principal of the college resigned for incapability to handle the administration. Supreme court took suo moto on 18 th August and formed a three judges bench headed by chief justice of India. They heard the matter on 20th August and criticised state government, Kolkata police and hospital administration over mishandling of the case and vandalism of eloping for evidence.
Indian Medical Association released a press notice on 15th August for nation wide withdrawal of service in routine OPD and elective surgery from 6AM on 17 th August to 6AM on 18th August.
The motive of the murder case is still under conciliation of CBI jurisdiction. In line with investigation, Dr. Sandip Ghosh is frequently called for investigation. But people of the nation is not satisfied to the progress of the case. It intensified the degree of protest internationally. The protest erupts in the neighboring countries like Bangladesh, UAE and also in the farthest corner of globe like USA and UK.
The people of the state assume the involvement of unscrupulous rackets of money launder through bribery in medical education. This may lead slow progress in investigation by Kolkata police.
