Today on 5th September every students in Indian School are celebrating the birthday of Dr. Sarvepally Radha Krishnan as Teacher's day. This is a memorandum to pay honour to all teachers.
This man was famous not only as through scholar but he was first vise president & second president in independent India. His identity was as a teacher of philosophy. There were many man in teaching profession but Radhakrishnan was paid gratitude as noble teacher. His birth day is recognised as "Teachers Day" in India. This day is celebrated in every year in India to express gratitude & honour to every teachers in the world for their hard work for nation building. This is sybmolised with the birth day of the educator, philosopher and life time devotee for education, Dr. Sarvepally Radhakrishnan.
Born, Early Life, Education, Career & Achievements:
Radhakrishnan was born on 5th September, 1888 in a small village of Tamilnadu called Tiruttani. He came in a Tamil Brahmin family. His father, Sarvepally Veeraswami was a tehsildar (Revenue Collector) in Tiruttani taluk of the Chittoor district under the jurisdiction of Madras Presidency. His mother, Sarvepally Sita was a housewife and spiritual devotee. She played a significant role in shaping his early life and spiritual values. Radhakrishnan is the second son among the five kids of Mrs. S. Sita. His parent's inculcated the sense of human values and spirituality. Later this property gave him the noble renown ability.
Early Life & Education.
He grew up in a traditional & conservative household. He was taught Hindu scriptures & Vedic philosophy from his early childhood. He started his education in Madras Christian College. Later he got his masters degree from Madras University. Radhakrishnan academic career was spanned over four decades. He taught philosophy at various institutions world wide including University of Calcutta & Oxford University.
Career & Profession:
After completing his studies and getting his PhD degree in philosophy he joined as professor of Philosophy in Calcutta University in 1921. He was considered for various academic positions including vise chancellor of Andhra University and Banaras Hindu University. He joined the National Congress and took part in freedom fighting movement. He served as India's ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1949 to 1952. He was elected as vise president in 1952 and elected as president of India in 1962.
Personal Life:
Radhakrishnan was married to Sivakamu. They had five daughters and a son. He was a very simple man. He lived a modest life even after becoming the president of India. He was loved for the nation for his kindness, humility and generosity.
Interest & Values:
Radhakrishnan was a vivid reader. He had a deep interest in philosophy. He believed in the principle's of Advita Vedanta. He emphasised the importance of self esteemed, self realization, whole hearted devotion to public service. He advocated of public education for individual and societal growth.
Literary Works & Award achieved:
He was an author & composer several books. These are "The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore" & "Eastern Religions and Western thought". He emphasised the importance of spiritual values in modern life. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest Indian civilian award in 1954.
His Demise:
After a long & extended contribution to Indian Philosophy, education, Indian freedom movement & also in the post independent Indian politics he passed away on 17th April in 1975. He left us with the motivation ideology & gave a vast lesson for humanity.
His birthday is celebrated as teacher's day in every school in India to pay tribute to all of the teachers for their contribution for nation building.
